Press Release: Parliamentary meeting to ask, “What is the future for our conservation areas?”

Call comes ahead of meeting to launch a new report and website highlighting conservation areas at risk

Civic Voice – the national charity for the civic movement – has today called for communities to join the Big Conservation Conversation campaign by sharing examples of conservation areas at risk. The call comes ahead of a Parliamentary meeting to discuss the future of conservation areas.

Joan Humble said; “We are gathering evidence through the Big Conservation Conversation to ensure conservation areas are given greater resources and protection because we want to see improved community awareness and understanding of the nature and value of Conservation Areas. With stronger support for Conservation Areas among politicians and policy makers, national and local more Conservation Areas protected from damaging change.”

Between 2017-2020 and with the support of Laura Sandys, the civic movement is raising awareness of conservation areas and we want community groups across the country to join us and show your support.

Laura Sandys said; ““A report, new website to be launched at the meeting will be a fantastic one-stop shop for civic societies and other community groups to find out how hey can play a greater role in reducing heritage at risk. We want communities to go on the website and share examples of conservation areas at risk.”
